Croton Council on the Arts

Happy Valentine's Month!
We are pleased to announce our upcoming events for February and subsequent months, which include a newly introduced section highlighting Members' News and Happenings.
Our calendar for March, in honor of Women’s Month, features a vibrant lineup celebrating the achievements and stories of women. Art and photography exhibitions will spotlight the creativity of women artists. The theatre performance is written and performed by a woman about a woman delving into the unique experiences and perspectives of women, while special live concerts will showcase music performed by women. Croton High School art students will also participate, contributing their talents and joining in the festivities as we recognize and honor the impact of women in our community.
CCoA thanks volunteer graphic designer Irina Sinitchi for refreshing our newsletter design – we hope readers enjoy it!

Get Involved Campaign

The Get Involved Team (GIT) met twice in January to explore everyone's interests and strengths, and find tasks that match. We can always use more volunteers!

The current team consists of graphic designers, event planners, educators, photographers, performers, poets and writers, journalists, administrators, idea people, and people people.
GIT is focusing on turning our ideas into upcoming programs/workshops, flyers for events, content for social media campaigns, and the revitalization of the website, in addition to writing grant proposals for ArtsWestchester and other foundations.

Croton has a long and continuing tradition of being a magnet for artists of all disciplines. The Croton Council on the Arts was born and grew out of this tradition and Croton’s 1976 Bicentennial celebrations. Local artists and supporters joined forces to stage events for the public in Croton and surrounding villages. Under poet and President Ruth Lisa Schechter’s dynamic leadership, the new council organized many productions in theater and dance, exhibitions of painting, sculpture, photography, and musical recitals and poetry readings. The Croton Review, a literary magazine, was published annually in the 1980s. Croton residents greeted these contributions to our Village with great enthusiasm and CCoA quickly became a valuable asset in the cultural life of our community.
CCoA is in constant need of volunteers to help us run our activities, and come up with new ones. It's also a great way to network and enhance your sense of community. CLICK HERE to send email to us if you have questions or want to get involved with CCoA activities.
